DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

About the park

Before the emigrants came to Death Valley Native American tribes lives here, that changed after the emigrants found this place and took it over. This stayed a while, until the late 1800’s. Around 1870 Chinese workers came to Death Valley to search for silver and Borax. More people came here to search for nature’s treasures. Now a days it’s a huge park with a lot of nature, animals and rough roads.

Things to do in Death Valley National Park

There are a couple of different things that you could do in the park. First of all you could go hiking. There are a couple hiking trails in the park, but most of the time there is no trail. It might be scary, but it isn’t if you adjust to it, it gives you more freedom to go where you want to go. It’s one big adventure. Because there are not so much trails you are responsible for how you treat the land.  There is one other thing when you want to hike in Death Valley National Park. There are no good roads to walk on so you should wear good and strong boots.

If hiking isn’t enough for you, you could also go backpacking in the national park. Backpacking in the park is only allowed when you have a permit. You can get a permit at the visitor center, but it might take some time to get it. You should certainly visit the visitor center.

There are a lot of options for biking and even mountainbiking. This is a great way to explore the park and if you go mountainbiking it’s even more adventurous.

If you want to take it a little bit easier you could go birdwatching. There are a lot of different species in this park. You could also combine birdwatching with hiking. You can get more information at the visitor center about birdwatching.

Besides all these activities you could also participate in a ranger led tour. There are different ranger led tours in Death Valley National Park and for more information about these tours you can visit the website of Death Valley National Park.

Campgrounds in Death Valley National Park

There are a couple of campgrounds in the park, but not all of them allow RVs. For more information about these campgrounds you can visit the website of the national park. Keep in mind that the roads are rough in this national park and it might be difficult to drive a RV in this park. There are no hook-ups on these campgrounds.

There is another campground outside of the national park called Stovepipe Wells Death Valley. There are 14 full hook-ups on this campground. If you want a spot with a full hook-up you should make a reservation because the places are full very fast. There are enough sites without full hook-ups on the campground and you don’t have to make a reservation if you want to stay on a campsite without a full hook-up. If you have a spot with full hook-up you may enjoy the pool, lobby and wi-fi for free. If you have a spot without a full hook-up you need to pay a nominal fee for these services (campsites with full hook-ups are almost triple the price of a campsite without a full hook-up). For more information about this campground you can visit the website of Stovepipe Wells Death Valley.
