About the city

Washington D.C. is the capital of the USA. Washington D.C. was founded in 1791 as capital of the USA and the city was named in honor of George Washington. Washington D.C. is a historical city and a lot of history has been written here and that makes it an impressive city. The feeling you get when you are walking around the city is strange. Especially when you are visiting a memorial or the White House. Washington is a big city and there is just to much to see and to do.

 

 

 

 

Things to do in Washington D.C.

-The first thing you think about when you hear Washington D.C. is probably the White House. You could take a tour in the White House, but that’s not as easy as it sounds. You need to make reservations for the tour at least 21 days before visiting the White House. You can make reservation 6 months in advance because the tour groups are small and there are not that many tours in the White House. -If you are interested in the civil war you should take a daytrip to Gettysburg. Gettysburg was a huge battlefield during the civil war and now a days you can find monuments and information about the war. When you arrive in Gettysburg you will have some time to explore Gettysburg on your own and later on you can follow a guide or deside to explore everything on your own. -There is a national zoo in Washington D.C.. Admission is free, but parking at the zoo in expensive. If you park your car for 3 hours or less you need to pay $16 and if you park longer than 3 hours you need to pay $22. There is also a positive side on the parkingcosts. All the money is used for projects for the zoo. The zoo has a great diversity of species and you can easily spend a day in this zoo. Campground near Washington D.C.

There is a KOA campground near to Washington D.C.. The great thing about this campground is that there is a KOA shuttle service from the campground to downtown Washington D.C. so that’s a great way to explore the city when you are travelling with your RV. You can also take a tour bus when you are in downtown Washington to explore the rest of Washington by bus.  The campground has also free wi-fi, a pool, full hook ups and more.
