About the city

The area of Memphis was first settled by the Mississippi culture and later by Native American Tribes. The area has been occupied for more than 10000 years. In the 16th century Spanish explorers arrived in this area. In 1797 the Spanish abandoned their forts and Memphis was founded in 1819, 22 years after the Spanish abandoned the place. Memphis became a big slave market and later the city became a major cotton and mule market. You can find a lot of history in Memphis.

 

Things to do in Memphis

-Music is very important to Memphis, Rock ‘n’ Roll started here, just as the soul and the city is home of the blues. There is a great museum that learns you everything about this music. -Another thing that is very important to the city is the Mississippi river, this was the first reason why people settled here.
